Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has been linked as a potential target.Although Champions League qualification is still possible, the season has been viewed internally as a major setback for the club. The Athletic’s James Pearce has now clarified reports regarding Iraola, stating that Slot is expected to remain Liverpool head coach heading into next season.Speculation had suggested possible interest in Iraola, but Pearce reports that Slot’s position is not under threat and he is set to continue in charge as Liverpool prepare for the 2026/27 campaign. Pearce posted on X: “Liverpool’s position on Arne Slot remains unchanged – despite a day of social media rumours.”Last week, Arne Slot disclosed that he believes he will still be in charge next season.

Asked about the speculation around his future and if he could confirm he was staying, Slot said: “I don’t think I am deciding that myself alone.“I have every reason to believe that I am the Liverpool manager next season. First of all, I am contracted to this club, and second of all from all the talks we are having.”Asked if he had been involved in planning for next season, Slot said: “Plans have been made and talks have been ongoing between the club and new players, and I am involved in that, if that is what you want to know.“If a manager or a club doesn’t have their best season, there is always debate about that.
